Save and Save As Not Available (Grayed Out) in Web Edit Mode

When you try to use web editing, the Save and Save As options might be unavailable (grayed out), even when you have been granted Write/Web Save and Download/Web Save As permissions.

Cause

Users must have publishing rights to Save or Save As in web authoring.
Løsning

As an administrator, grant publishing rights to affected users.

  1. Sign in to Tableau Server as an administrator and navigate to Admin > Users.
  2. Select the check box next to the user name.
  3. On the menu bar, select Actions - Site Role 
  4. Select Creator or Explorer (can publish) and click "Change Site Role."

  • The option to Save will only be available if you are an owner of the workbook. Otherwise, you will only see Save As.
  • If you need to Save a workbook and you only have Save As permissions, you can choose Save As and save the workbook with the same title as the original. This will overwrite the original workbook.
