During Tableau Server installation, the following error may occur:
Tableau server initialization failed
See install log at C:\ProgramData\Tableau\Tableau Server\logs
Additionally, the tabadmin.log file may contain the following error:
creating template1 database in pgsql/data/base/1 ...
initdb: could not execute command ""C:/Program Files/Tableau/Tableau Server/<version>/pgsql/bin/postgres.exe" --boot -x1 -F ": No error
initdb: removing data directory "pgsql/data"
Cause
This issue occurs during the PostgreSQL database initialization process. The postgres.exe process relies on executing several commands via the Windows command prompt (C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe). If the signed-in Windows user lacks permission to access this location, or if the ComSpec environment variable is incorrectly set and does not point to cmd.exe, these errors will occur.
