When trying to deactivate a Tableau Desktop license, deactivation might not succeed.

The Virtual Desktop installation option is being used.
The area where license data is stored is corrupt which can occur with OS upgrades and cloned images.

Tableau Technical Support will provide the command to clear the key manually from your machine.
There may be a problem with the license data stored on the Tableau Desktop machine. When trying to deactivate a product key, an error should display. Check with an Internet search the exact code or error received to understand next steps.
