Crosstab Export Differs Between Tableau Server and Desktop

When you export a view as a crosstab from Tableau Server, the resulting CSV file might differ from the CSV you get using the Crosstab to Excel export feature in Tableau Desktop.

Cause

The export from Tableau Server exports the underlying data, while the export from Tableau Desktop exports the data in the view.
Ratkaisu
Use one of the following workarounds.

Option 1: Export from Tableau Desktop.
  1. Download the workbook from Tableau Server.
  2. Open the downloaded workbook in Tableau Desktop.
  3. Select Worksheet > Export > Crosstab to Excel.
  4. After the crosstab file opens in Excel, save it in the preferred location.

Option 2: Format the fields that are incorrectly summed to display with decimals.
  1. Open the workbook in Tableau Desktop.
  2. Right-click the field you want to edit in the Measures pane and select Default Properties > Number Format.
  3. Choose Number (Custom).
  4. Under Decimal Places, select at least 2, then click OK.
