Tableau View is Blank After Publishing a View with a Filter Using a Username Function

Udgivelsesdato: May 13, 2025
Beskrivelse
When publishing a workbook to Tableau Server, a quick filter that uses a username() or fullname()function will retain the value that was in use at the time it was published. If the user logged into Tableau Server does not match the user in the filter, then the view will be blank.

Cause

Filters will be set to the value they have when published, and do not have the ability to automatically update to a valid option based on which user is viewing the visualization.

Løsning

Because Tableau quick filters will be set to the value they have when published when using username() or fullname (), here are some possible alternate options:

Option 1:

  1. Change the filter value to (All).
  2. Republish the view.

Option 2:

Have the Tableau Server user perform the following:

  1. Navigate to the published workbook.
  2. Select their name in the filter.
  3. Click the Remember my changes link.
