Temp Tables Created in Amazon Redshift Database when Publishing Workbook to Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud

Publiseringsdato: Apr 11, 2025
Beskrivelse

When you publish a workbook connected to Amazon Redshift to Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud, temporary tables with a _tableau prefix in the name might be created in the Amazon Redshift database.

Cause

The Amazon Redshift data source allows Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud to create temporary tables in the Redshift database. Tableau checks to see if TEMPORARY privileges are granted, and if they are, Tableau will create temporary tables as needed.

Løsning

Option 1

Work with your Redshift database administrator to revoke CREATE privileges from the user account used to connect to Redshift. For more information, see Default Database User Privileges and GRANT in AWS Documentation.

Option 2

Use a custom TDC file that includes the setting:

CAP_CREATE_TEMP_TABLES = No

For more information about creating and using TDC files, see Customizing and Tuning ODBC Connections in the Tableau Knowledge Base.
