Tableau Server Degraded After Installation or Upgrade

Description
After upgrading or installing Tableau Server on a drive other than the default drive (C drive), Tableau Server might be in a degraded status. When tabadmin status -v is run, the gateway shows as stopped.

Cause

Tableau Server requires explicit Modify permissions for the root folder of the drive where it is installed.
 
Résolution
Grant the Run as user Modify permissions in the root of the drive where Tableau Server is installed. For more information, see File and Folder Permissions at Microsoft TechNet.
