Workbooks Connected to Published Data Sources Lose Custom Fiscal Year or Week Start After Publishing

Дата публикации: Apr 24, 2025
Описание
When a custom fiscal year or week start is set in a workbook connected to a published data source, the custom fiscal year or week start is lost after the workbook is published.

Cause

During publishing the data source sync will prioritize the published data source properties of any shared fields over the workbook properties by design (the published data source can be shared and used by other existing published dashboards and overwriting it may negatively impact the existing published viz.) Therefore, permanent changes to a published data source field can only be committed by localizing a copy of the field to the workbook (ie create a workbook-only field which does not sync with the published data source) or editing and republishing the data source itself (so that the desired properties are part of the data source).
Решение

Option 1: Duplicate Date Field

  1. Right-click the date field in the data pane and select Duplicate...
  2. Right-click the duplicate date field, and select Default Properties > Fiscal Year Start > check desired fiscal year start
NOTE: Tableau will not use the data source fiscal year start for a date field unless that is the checked option.

Option 2: Create a Local Copy of the Data Source

  1. Navigate to Data > {data source name} > Create Local Copy...
  2. Navigate to Data > Replace Data Source...
  3. In the Replace Data Source dialog, replace the published data source with the local copy
  4. Right-click the date field in the data pane for the local data source, and select Default Properties > Fiscal Year Start > check desired fiscal year start
NOTE: Once the change has been created in the local copy of the data source, the data can be republished and will retain the fiscal year start. See Editing a Published Data Source.
