tabcmd Exported CSV File with Special Characters Displays Incorrectly in Excel

Julkaisupäivä: Apr 13, 2024
Kuvaus
When using tabcmd to export a workbook containing special characters, such as Cyrillic, to a .csv file, the resulting file might not display those characters correctly in Excel.

Cause

This is due to the BOM missing on the UTF8 file exported. Re-saving the file in Excel will add the BOM.
Ratkaisu
Use one of the following workarounds:

Option 1

  1. Open the .csv file in a text editor, such as Notepad, which includes encoding options, and choose Save As.
  2. Choose UTF - 8, ANSI or Unicode encoding.
  3. Save the file.
The file should now display correctly in Excel.

Option 2

Export the file from the Tableau Server view by clicking Download and selecting Crosstab.
