Error "External table 'dbo' is not accessible" When Connecting to Azure SQL Synapse Analytics

The following error occurs when connecting a Synapse serverless pool:
 

External table 'dbo' is not accessible because location does not exist or it is used by another process.

Cause

According to this Microsoft document, this error may occur because the authentication method that you use doesn't have a correct permission to the external data source where the external table referring to. 

Ratkaisu
Grant 'Storage Blob Data Contributor' permission to the external data source for the authentication method that you use in the Azure Data Factory (ADF).
