Unable to Sign in to Tableau Server 2022.1 or Newer from Tableau Desktop 2020.4.X or Earlier Version

Description

When signing into Tableau Server 2022.1+ and/or Tableau Cloud from Tableau Desktop 2020.4.x, a blank white screen is displayed in the dialog that houses the sign in content and unable to sign in.
 

Cause

Tableau Desktop 2020.4 uses an older embedded browser that does not support newer javascript.
Résolution
  1. Upgrade your Tableau Desktop client to a newer, supported version.
  2. If unable to upgrade, start Tableau Desktop 2020.4 with the following command option as a workaround:

"C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau 2020.4\bin\tableau.exe" -DOverride=AuthenticationDialogWebEngine:on
