Unable to open multiple workbooks in Tableau Desktop and switch between sites

Description
If multiple workbooks are open in Tableau Desktop and the application is connected to a specific site in Tableau Server. If a user tries to change the site one workbook is signed into by selecting the "Sign into another site" the pop-up screen used to "Select Site" freezes. This happens is both workbooks/Desktop instances are connected to one site and one of them tries to be changed to another. 

 

Cause

The function to switch between sites in multiple workbooks open in Tableau Desktop is not built in the product.
 
Résolution
To workaround the issue the user needs to close the instance of Tableau Desktop that appears stuck and re-open the workbook.
