The error below is displayed when adding extensions on a workbook in web authoring mode:

Error: "Extensions are not allowed on this site. Contact your server administrator to change this site setting to allow extensions."

Cause

There was only one site- Default. However, the site level setting -"Let users run extensions on this site" is disabled for this Default site. We won’t be able to enable it as there is only one site and site level setting is not shown for the Default site.

Ratkaisu

 

  1. Create a new temporary test site on the Server which we will only be using to change settings and then remove later.
  2. Afterwards select the Default site from the dropdown on the top left corner to change back to the Default site.
  3. Go to Settings-> Extensions.
  4. Enable the setting - "Let users run extensions on this site" for the Default site.
  5. Delete the test site now that changes are made to the Default site.

Issue could happen in below scenario:
  1. Create multiple sites, say Site-A, Site-B, Site-C.
  2. Disable the setting "Let users run extensions on this site" on Site A.
  3. Delete Site-B and Site-C. 
Now there is only one site - Site-A with extensions enabled at the server level but disabled at the site level.
