Error "SSL SYSCALL error: EOF detected" Occurs When Connected to PostgreSQL from Tableau

After a few minutes of inactivity, the following error may occur when navigating to a different sheet in Tableau Desktop when connected to PostgreSQL:
 

SSL SYSCALL error: EOF detected

 

Cause

Idle connections are terminated by an intermediate network component, such as a firewall, after a period of inactivity.

 

솔루션

Work with your PostgreSQL database administrator to adjust the following tcp_keepalives parameters on the database server:

  • tcp_keepalives_idle
  • tcp_keepalives_interval
  • tcp_keepalives_count
