When attempting to connect to the Tableau Server Repository from outside of Tableau with a query tool which uses the PostgreSQL ODBC driver, the following error occurs:
SCRAM authentication requires libpq version 10 or above
The ODBC driver for PostgreSQL shipped with Tableau Server is out of date and can no longer be used to connect to the repository.
This solution does not affect Tableau Server's ability to access the repository or other PostgreSQL databases, as Tableau Server uses the JDBC driver for PostgreSQL by default.
The issue only occurs when an external application is attempting to access the Tableau Server Repository using the ODBC driver that is shipped with Tableau Server.
