If Experience Cloud users are unable to find other users via lookup search within a site, or the lookup search is requiring more characters than expected to show results, check the Enhanced Personal Information Management (EPIM) settings in Setup and the "Show Nicknames" setting in Experience Workspaces for the site.

Search also does not return results for fields with field visibility restrictions, which includes fields blocked by the EPIM permission. The instant result search only searches on Name fields.
This behavior is working as designed. However, you can reduce the number of characters required and increase instant result availability for Experience Cloud users by:
Note: Consider the security risks and data privacy ramifications before making personal user data visible on your Experience Cloud site.
