Emojis or Unicode Characters Not Rendering Correctly When Published to Tableau Cloud

Julkaisupäivä: Sep 8, 2025
Kuvaus

When publishing a dashboard that uses emojis to Tableau Cloud, extended unicode symbols or emojis appear different or do not render successfully when compared to Tableau Desktop.

Cause

The ability to use emojis or extended unicode symbols in Tableau Cloud is currently not built into the product or not officially supported.

Ratkaisu
As a possible workaround, you can use a custom shape set on the marks card.

For more information, please see Custom Shapes.

As a note, whether these render can be intermittent, but is not supported. For example, tooltips may have more success rendering custom symbols or emojis as these are sent as HTML to the client to render. So a browser with the proper fonts may correctly show the symbols on a case-by-case basis, but is a success outside of the scope of support.

Intermittent success or failure is client-specific, and is expected as the product is currently designed.
