Error: "your File Could Not Be Imported" When Importing Metadata To Tableau Cloud

Description

When importing metadata to Tableau Cloud, the following error might occur:

Error: Your file could not be imported. The provided file is not valid, or it does not contain the correct IdP metadata.

Cause

As of May 2020, Tableau Cloud no longer supports SHA-1 signing algorithm, and it blocks IdP assertions and certificates that are signed with the SHA-1 algorithm.

 

Résolution
Verify that the IdP certificate type is using SHA-2 / SHA-256
