When connecting to a Hortonworks Hadoop Hive database using Kerberos authentication, the following error may occur:
[Hortonworks][ThriftExtension] (9) Error occurred while authenticating via SASL. Error details: SASL(-1): generic failure: GSSAPI Error: Unspecified GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information (Internal credentials cache error)
The ODBC driver was not able to access the correct internal credentials cache using the gssapi library.
Apply the UseOnlySSPI=1 customization to the connection using a .tdc file, to specify that the driver uses the SSPI plugin to handle Kerberos authentication. A sample .tdc file is attached to this article.
