Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server cannot connect to SAP BW after applying a Windows patch KB5028166, KB5028169

           The connection to the data source might have been lost.

Error Code: 38348CCE

The connection to sapbw had a fatal error and was disconnected.
ExternalProtocol:PipMessageSource:ReadBytes: Communication with the Tableau Server Protocol Server process was lost. Tableau Protocol Server process might be terminated, possibly due to system resource constraints or another external source.

Cause

After installing Windows Security update KB5028166 and/or KB5028169, SAP BW connections are failing. See SAP Knowledgebase article for more info.

 

Lösung

Sign in to the SAP Software Download Center to update to the latest Windows 64-bit SAP BW ODBO Driver for SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse. If you don't have login credentials, contact your SAP administrator for help getting the driver.
