Salesforce Email Return Address Verification Requirement (Summer '24 Release Update)

With Summer ’24, we have updated the My Email Settings page to include a link to resend an email verification if you had previously set and verified the Return Address prior to Summer '24. For security reasons, we are requiring all previously verified Return Addresses to be reverified. This change applies to all Salesforce users.

The verification email will only be sent in two situations and has the subject "Action required: Salesforce email verification":

i. The Email Address is not verified in the User Detail Page.

ii. The "What email address would you like to use as your return address?" field in "My Email Settings is populated with an email and does not match the email in the User Detail.

Users will receive a reminder email once per release as a reminder to verify your “Return/From“ email address if you send from a Return Address that was not previously verified.

NOTE:  A common practice has been for users to specify an Email to Case routing address as their return address. This will cause this verification reminder email to be sent to that routing address for any user that has made this change.  To continue using this process, verification emails would have to be accessed from the routing address or case that may have been created.

The best practice is for users to click the View Profile icon on top right and go to Settings | Email | My Email settings and check the provided address and use the verification link to follow the verification process.  Please review the following:

  1. Users that have not addressed this verification issue will receive this reminder email again also in the Winter ‘25 release
  2. Starting Spring '25, no more reminder email will be sent and emails will no longer send for users if they have not verified their "Return Address"
