Native Apple Silicon support for Tableau Desktop, Prep Builder, Reader, and Public

Udgivelsesdato: Sep 24, 2025
Beskrivelse

Prior to 2024.2, Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep Builder, Tableau Reader, or Tableau Public Desktop required the use of the Rosetta2 Emulator in order to run on a Mac computer with an Apple Silicon (ARM-64) chip. This may result in slower performance while using these Tableau applications.

Supported macOS Operating Systems

Running Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep Builder, Tableau Reader, or Tableau Public Desktop natively on Apple Silicon machines requires the use of macOS Ventura (13+) or newer

How do I know if my Mac has Intel Processor or Apple Silicon
1) Please open the Apple menu  on the top left corner of your desktop screen.
2) Click on “About This Mac”
3) Users with Intel processors will have “Processor…. Intel Core…” and users with Apple Silicon will have “Chip Apple M1, M2, or M3”

Løsning

Versions 2024.2 and later of Tableau Desktop, Prep Builder, Reader and Public Desktop will install and run Tableau natively and without the use of the Rosetta2 Emulator. This will result in better performance for the user.

  1. If possible, upgrade to 2024.2 or later for optimal performance on Mac with Apple chip (M1, M2, M3).
  2.  If you are using the older Mac/OS with Intel chip, Tableau still runs with lower performance regardless of which Tableau version is installed, however, installing the latest version with the latest fixes is always recommended.

*If users are utilizing currently unsupported data sources in the ARM version, they should continue using the Intel version of Tableau and run this version on the Rosetta2 Emulator.
