After renaming an object via Rename Tabs and Labels, the default List View "All Objects" can't be changed back to its original name

게시 일자: Apr 2, 2026
상세 설명

After renaming a Standard Object's label via the Setup > Rename Tabs and Labels feature, we are unable to rename the 'All <objectname>' listview which is automatically changed to 'All <renamed_object_name>', back to its original name which was 'All <original_object_name>' .

It will always revert to 'All <renamed_object_name>' upon saving. It can be renamed to any other name apart from 'All <original_object_name>'.

Steps to observe this behavior:

  1. In Setup > Rename Tabs and Labels page, rename Contact object label to Clients.
  2. In App Launcher, select the newly renamed ‘Clients' tab, and expand the List View dropdown list.
  3. Observed that the 'All Contacts’ list view has automatically been renamed to 'All Clients'.
  4. Edit this listview, and try changing the name to 'All Contacts’, it will revert to 'All Clients' upon saving.
  5. Rename the listview to any other name, or even 'All contacts’ (small letter c), it will save and reflect this new name.
  6. This issue is applicable to other Standard Objects like Accounts and Opportunities as well.

Scenario, a company like Acme Consulting renames the standard Contact object to Client using the “Rename Tabs and Labels” feature to better match their business terminology. After this change, the default list view “All Contacts” is automatically updated to “All Clients.” Later, the sales team requests to revert the list view name back to “All Contacts” for consistency with legacy training materials. However, when the admin edits the list view and attempts to rename it back to “All Contacts,” Salesforce automatically changes it back to “All Clients” upon saving. Although the admin can rename the list view to other variations such as “All contacts” or “All Customer Contacts,” the exact original name “All Contacts” cannot be reused because Salesforce enforces the default list view naming to match the current object label.

솔루션

This behavior is working as intended.

When the list view name is changed from the default, it does not allow to rename back to the default, although it allows to rename to something else. There are some translation validations in check that limits this link with default name from being broken.

Workaround:

1. Clone that list view. (Clone list view All Clients).
2. Rename the cloned list view to the original list view name. (rename to All Contacts)
