If you're encountering an "SFTP Connection failed. Edit your credentials and try again. SftpException Access denied." error, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Validate Your Credentials

First, confirm that your login credentials are correct by using them with another external SFTP client, such as CyberDuck or WinSCP.

  1. CyberDuck: You can Download from this link and open CyberDuck, then try logging in with your SFTP credentials.
  2. WinSCP: You can Download from this link and open WinSCP, then attempt to log in using your SFTP credentials.

If you can successfully connect using these tools, it means your credentials are correct and the issue lies elsewhere.

Step 2: Check Write Permissions on the SFTP Server

If your credentials work fine with external SFTP clients but you still encounter issues, the problem may be related to write permissions on the SFTP server.

Note:

  • The Source Type connector doesn't require write permissions and should work seamlessly.
  • The Target Type SFTP connector, however, checks for write permissions during the getConnection function.

To resolve this, you'll need to check with your IT team or the administrator responsible for the SFTP server and ensure that the necessary write permissions are granted.

Step 3: Verify Permissions on Your End

If you have SSH access to the server, you can verify permissions using commands like:

  chmod 600 <Filename>
  sftp -i <Filename> <domain name>
  ls -l

Filename can be of any file inside the SFTP directory, we need to ensure that we have necessary write permissions for Data 360 to write to the SFTP.

These steps will help you confirm if the permissions are correctly set and if you can access the necessary directories and files.

Ensuring correct credentials and verifying write permissions are crucial steps in troubleshooting this problem.
