When a Salesforce admin configures Salesforce Surveys and attempts to select an Email Template under Default Settings in Survey Builder, no templates appear and "None" is displayed — even when valid email templates exist in the org.
This issue typically occurs when the email template was created without using the standard survey templates (Embed_a_Survey_Link or Embed_a_Survey_Question) as a starting point. For example, a Salesforce admin who creates a fresh email template without cloning the standard survey template will find that the template does not appear in the Survey Builder Default Settings dropdown.
This issue occurs because the email template must include a survey invitation URL link using the [[SURVEY_INVITATION_URL]] merge field, and it must be associated with the Survey Question related entity type. The standard templates (Embed_a_Survey_Link and Embed_a_Survey_Question) are pre-configured with these requirements.
If the standard templates have been edited and cloning them no longer works, follow the steps below to create a compatible email template manually.
