Salesforce Email Template Shows 'None' for Survey Builder Default Settings

Publiceringsdatum: May 28, 2026
Beskrivning

When a Salesforce admin configures Salesforce Surveys and attempts to select an Email Template under Default Settings in Survey Builder, no templates appear and "None" is displayed — even when valid email templates exist in the org.

This issue typically occurs when the email template was created without using the standard survey templates (Embed_a_Survey_Link or Embed_a_Survey_Question) as a starting point. For example, a Salesforce admin who creates a fresh email template without cloning the standard survey template will find that the template does not appear in the Survey Builder Default Settings dropdown.

Lösning

This issue occurs because the email template must include a survey invitation URL link using the [[SURVEY_INVITATION_URL]] merge field, and it must be associated with the Survey Question related entity type. The standard templates (Embed_a_Survey_Link and Embed_a_Survey_Question) are pre-configured with these requirements.

If the standard templates have been edited and cloning them no longer works, follow the steps below to create a compatible email template manually.

Steps to Create a Compatible Survey Email Template

  1. Go to App Manager and search for Email Templates.
  2. Create a new Email template or edit the existing template you want to use.
  3. In the Related Entity Type field, select Survey Question. This is required for the template to appear in Survey Builder.
  4. In the HTML Value, draft the body as needed. To make the template appear in Survey Builder, create a text URL link: type any text such as Open Survey, select it, and click the Link button to attach a URL.
  5. In the Link URL field, enter the value [[SURVEY_INVITATION_URL]]. The text displays as "Open Survey."
  6. Save the Email template. The template now appears in Survey Builder Default Settings.
