Marketing Cloud | ENS | CloudPage as a Webhook

Publiseringsdato: Aug 29, 2025
Beskrivelse

Currently, Event Notification Services (ENS) is a methodology that can be used to log data around various Marketing Cloud Engagement Services. When using these, it is a requirement that a Webhook URL is set up in order to have a place to log these. In some scenarios customers may choose to utilize CloudPages as the Webhook URL to process this data and then log it or manipulate it in various way. When this is done, sometimes the customer may experience incomplete ENS data being logged to the relevant repository.

The above stated condition can occur more frequently than it would with a non-CloudPage solution as there is a timeout limit that is set at three seconds for call processing. If a CloudPage takes more than 3 seconds to process a particular set events, the events would be dropped causing a loss of the events in said logging. As a product, a higher percentage of completion is not able to be guaranteed through CloudPages for processing these events due to the frequency and volume that may be passed.   If successive calls take more than 3 seconds to process, a Callback Suspension can occur.

There are a number of ways this can be worked around if this solution is being used due to a lack of a server in order to host the Webhook URL. One method for this can be marrying Data Views and the Tracking Extract which utilizes not sent data.  If real time data is not needed this will be the most preferred path.

If real time/ENS cadence level data is needed you will want to utilize a server which is purposed to operate as a Webhook URL.  You will want to avoid using CloudPages as a Webhook URL if high availability is required, particularly for compliance related reasons.
