Unable to Convert Embedded Data Sources to Published Data Sources Using the Tableau Content Migration Tool Or Tableau Migration SDK

To workaround the issue, use the below workflow to manually publish the data sources and workbooks.

1. Open the workbook in Tableau Desktop.
2. Go to Server > Sign In. If you’re already signed into Tableau Cloud, skip to the next step. If you’re already signed into Tableau Server, sign out of Tableau Server, then sign in to Tableau Cloud.
3. Go to Server > Publish Workbook.
4. Under Data Sources, click Edit.
5. For all data sources, change the Publish Type drop-down to Published Separately.
6. For the Authentication drop-down, choose Embedded password.
7. Click Publish.

Repeat for all workbooks that connect to embedded data sources.
