Which fields are taken into consideration for consent on Lead and Contact records?

The consent component will display all relevant Email or Phone type fields on the Lead/Contact record. The component retrieves consent for the email addresses and phone numbers contained within these fields, and then it displays the corresponding consent information.

If you notice an email address or phone number showing in the consent component that isn't visible on the lead/contact record, it's possible the email address/phone number is being pulled from a field that is not visible to your user based on the Salesforce page layout. Work with your Salesforce admin to have the field added to the appropriate page layout.

If any of the specified fields are not accessible—whether due to permission settings, data visibility restrictions, or other issues—the consent component may encounter an error. In such cases, the consent information will not be displayed, preventing users from viewing any relevant consent data.

If you have imported the consent data but it's not displaying, you can verify if it has been stored by navigating to:

Data Cloud → Data Explorer → Data Model Object → Communication Subscription Consent. 

If you don’t see any data there, please check if the MessagingConsent data stream has been refreshed. If it has, we recommend reaching out to Salesforce Support for further investigation.

Note: Please be aware that only Marketing Cloud Growth and Advanced customers have access to the “Data Explorer” option. This feature is not available to Starter or Pro-suite customers.

Additionally, external consent is not currently supported, even if it is written to our native DMOs.
