Changes to Document Generation Process and Previewer in Spring '25

Publiceringsdatum: Dec 20, 2024
Beskrivning
There are changes to document generation and previewer within the Industries Communications, Media, Energy & Utilities (CME), Insurance (INS),Vlocity Government (PS) or Omnistudio managed packages in Spring '25 release

Salesforce is making these changes to improve document generation performance, scalability, and reliability while ensuring compliance with evolving data protection regulations. These changes aim to bolster security, scalability, and operational efficiency for Salesforce's services and features. By leveraging the managed package and Salesforce services, Salesforce can offer a more streamlined and robust document generation process.

What is PDF document generation?

The PDF document generation process in Salesforce allows you to pull data stored in Salesforce into template documents and generate PDF files. ‌You can preview a generated document and make necessary changes before sending it to clients. You can use custom fonts during document generation to ensure that the generated PDFs or documents reflect the desired font style while maintaining consistency with style guidelines. The previewer works in conjunction with the generation of PDF documents within Salesforce.

What is changing?

In Spring '25, Salesforce will introduce updates to the client-side document generation process, the PDF previewer’s look and feel, and minor changes to the custom font configuration. These changes are designed to enhance performance and reliability without significantly altering your day-to-day experience or existing features. For more information on client-side document generation, see Client-Side Document Generation in CLM and Omnistudio Client-Side Document Generation.

Currently, client-side document generation is managed entirely within the Industries CME, INS, Vlocity Government (PS) and Omnistudio-managed packages. Starting in Spring '25, we’ll introduce a hybrid approach for client-side processing. This means that client-side document generation will be partially handled locally at the package level and partially on the same Hyperforce infrastructure currently supporting server-side document generation. While client-side processes will only use the Hyperforce infrastructure to a limited extent, this shared setup ensures continuity and consistency between client-side and server-side operations. This hybrid client-side document generation processing is subject to the limits of server-side document generation. For more information, see Server-Side Document Generation in CLM and Omnistudio Server-Side Document Generation.

Managed package users must consent to continue using this hybrid document generation model in Spring '25. For information on the Services, see Salesforce Infrastructure and Sub-processors and Trust and Compliance Documentation.

This is an advance communication about upcoming changes in Spring '25. We’ll provide detailed information about the applicable changes in the Spring '25 release notes and help documentation.

What action do I need to take?

No action is required in the Winter '25 release. However, in the Spring '25 release, you must provide in-app consent to continue using the hybrid client-side document generation model. Additionally, we recommend conducting thorough testing in a sandbox environment to ensure compatibility with your existing configurations, particularly for custom fonts and document generation processes.
