Size Considerations for Quip Documents and Spreadsheets

Beskrivelse

Cell Limit

  • Each Quip Spreadsheet has a hard maximum cell limit of 100,000 cells.
  • Salesforce Reports have a hard 20,000 cell limit per Report.
  • Getting close to this limit can cause performance issues or prevent further edits.
  • You can reduce the number of cells by deleting empty cells or extra tabs from your Spreadsheets
  • Once at this cell limit, create a new document or spreadsheet to use going forward. Creating a copy or continuing to use the document or spreadsheet will cause errors.

File Size

  • Quip Documents and Spreadsheets also have a threshold of 2MB. As a Document begins to reach this threshold, you may experience performance issues.
  • Older Documents with a large amount of collaboration, have more MB because Quip needs to store the Document or Spreadsheet History and the Comments.
  • A simple solution for an oversized Document is to make a copy of the Document. This will create a smaller MB version of that content, but will clear the side conversation bar.

System Performance

  • Opening an overly large Document may result in:
    • The inability to open or edit other Quip Documents.
    • A complete system slowdown within the application.
  • To resolve these issues:
    • Fully close Quip.
    • Reboot the application and create a copy of the document before continuing your work.

Use of Live Apps

  • Using too many Live Apps within a Document can contribute to size and performance constraints.
  • It is best practice to limit the number of Live Apps in a Document to 5 and fewer than 15 Live Data Mentions per Document.
