Data pubblicazione: Dec 10, 2024
Descrizione

You can see this error when you use the metadata deploy() method or run a package upgrade and either of those deployments contains the conversion of a custom field from one data type to another. For example, if a custom field is being converted from text to picklist. The deployment fails with the error “The deployment failed because we couldn’t change the data type of one or more custom fields.”

This error occurs when: (1) a deployment changes the data type of one or more custom fields and (2) the objects that contain the affected custom fields contain a large amount of data. The limit is 85 million custom field type conversions.

Risoluzione

If you get this error, here are some ways you can try to resolve it.

  • If you’re converting custom fields from one data type to another, you can try deploying the custom field conversions one at a time using Metadata API. For example, if your metadata deploy or package upgrade deploys customizations in addition to changing custom field types, you can try putting the customizations and the custom field type changes in separate deployments.
  • You can change custom field types one at a time via the UI. See Change the Custom Field Type.

If you continue to see the error or have issues converting custom field data types, contact Salesforce Customer Support.
