Date de publication: Jan 23, 2025
Description

When viewing reports, users may find that Rich Text fields do not display the full content up to the standard character limit.

Résolution

Why the Visible Character Count Is Lower Than Expected

By default, Salesforce reports truncate Rich Text fields based on the following limits:

  • Standard Fields: Displays the first 999 characters.

  • Custom Fields: Displays the first 255 characters.

However, when text styling such as line breaks, bolding, or colors is applied to a Rich Text field, the formatting information is stored as HTML code along with the plain text. Salesforce counts the characters of these underlying HTML tags toward the total limit. As a result, the visible text displayed in the report may be significantly shorter than the expected character count.
