Object and Field Labels in Various Industries Have Inaccurate Translations in Specific Contexts

Julkaisupäivä: Feb 3, 2026
Kuvaus

In Salesforce, labels for objects and fields are often reused across different Industry Verticals. This can lead to inaccurate translations when the same label is used in different contexts. For instance, the English label "Application" is used in the Financial Services vertical to mean a loan application, which translates correctly to "Antrag" in German. However, in the Education context, "Application" should be translated to "Bewerbung," which refers to an application for a school or work position. This discrepancy can cause confusion for users who rely on accurate translations to understand the context of the labels.

See this example in action.

1. Create an Education Cloud trial org.

2. Use the App Launcher to open Recruitment & Admissions.

3. On the Ready for Decision tab, notice that the label says “Application”.

4. In User Settings, change your Language to German.

5. On the Ready for Decision tab, observe that the label is mistranslated as “Antrag”.

Ratkaisu

A workaround to address this issue is to review the translations for your labels and objects. If a translation is significantly out of context and causes confusion, you can customize the text. Salesforce provides resources to help you override translations and customize standard fields to better fit the context of your specific vertical.

1. Override Translations in Second-Generation Managed Packages and Unlocked Packages: Follow the instructions in this Salesforce Help Article to override translations in your managed packages.

2. Customize Standard Fields: Refer to this Salesforce Help Article to learn how to customize standard fields to ensure accurate translations.
