The Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) system periodically restarts workloads as part of its routine operations. If an activation job starts just before such a restart, the process is interrupted, preventing it from completing. Additionally, the system allows up to 24 hours for jobs to finish, accommodating partners like Salesforce Marketing Cloud, which may require extended processing time. If a job remains incomplete beyond this timeframe, the system considers it lost and proceeds with new jobs, ensuring that stuck jobs do not block the queue. As a result, customers may observe a job in the activation history stuck in the 'publishing' state.
Once the 24-hour waiting period has passed, the user can retry the activation process, which should then complete successfully. This mechanism ensures efficient job queue management and seamless processing for subsequent activations.
