How to Format Phone Numbers in E.164 for Google Audiences in Salesforce Marketing Cloud

Google requires all phone numbers for Google AdWords Audiences to be in the E.164 format for precise targeting and matching.

If your Salesforce Data Extension lacks correctly formatted phone numbers, you may experience low match rates, errors, or delays when synchronizing ad audiences.

Løsning

Create a new Data Extension to store properly formatted phone numbers.

Use a Query Activity in Automation Studio to extract and reformat phone numbers into the correct E.164 format.

In the Query Activity, use SQL to:

  • Extract the phone numbers from the original Data Extension.
  • Check for missing country codes and add them where necessary.
  • Ensure all numbers begin with a "+" plus symbol.

Create a new audience and use the updated Data Extension for Google AdWords audience targeting in Advertising Studio.
