Outlook integration: “An unexpected error occurred” in the Outlook Panel when trying to send an email

Some of the causes of this error can be Flows, Triggers, Validation rules or Custom code in Salesforce conflicting with the creation or deletion of Tasks.  If the error happens for Outlook Integration users, please check any of the above that may be running at the time.

 

NOTE: Outlook Integration needs to be able to create email messages and tasks.

Ratkaisu

The Console logs from the Outlook Integration pane or browser can give useful information if accessed when the error happens.  Likewise the Salesforce Console and Console Logs can also shed light as to what may be executing at the time of the error.

 

To obtain the console logs from the Outlook Integration on Windows:

 

  1. Right-click on the Outlook Integration add-in/side panel - Select Inspect
  2. In the DevTools window, click on the Console tab
  3. Check for errors and URLs references in the console
  4. Also check the Network tab in the Dev tools
