When Using Gmail Integration, Space-Preserving HTML Tags and CSS Styles in Email Templates Interfere with Manual Cadence Email Steps

公開日: Aug 18, 2026
説明

When a manual cadence email step using the Gmail Integration is executed in a Cadence component, Salesforce invokes Gmail APIs to compose the email. Due to limitations in the Gmail APIs, Salesforce needs to insert space characters into the email template. For example, a sales rep sending a cadence email built with a copy-pasted HTML template might notice odd extra line breaks or spacing appear in the email actually received by the prospect, even though the template looked correct in the builder.

Affected Elements

The presence of certain HTML tags or CSS style elements can interfere with this process, potentially causing emails to look different from the original templates:

  • <pre>
  • <code>
  • `white-space: pre`
  • `white-space: pre-line`
  • `white-space: pre-wrap`

Note: Salesforce's email templates don't use these tags and style elements.

When This Occurs

This issue may occur when all of the following conditions are met:

  1. Threading is enabled in the manual email cadence step.
  2. The cadence step is executed using the Gmail Integration.
  3. The email template used in the cadence step contains any of the above HTML tags or CSS style elements.
解決策

This article explains how to avoid formatting issues in Gmail Integration cadence emails caused by space-preserving HTML tags or CSS styles in the email template.

How to Avoid It

  • Use Lightning Experience to perform the cadence step.
  • Avoid using space-preserving HTML tags and CSS style elements in email templates.
  • If you're building an email template by copying and pasting from another HTML editor, paste without formatting and reformat in the Salesforce email template builder.
