Error 'The request signature we calculated does not match the signature you provided' occurs when connecting to Amazon Athena from Tableau Cloud

  • Error message "The request signature we calculated does not match the signature you provided" means ----
    there's a mismatch between how the AWS request was signed and how the server expected it to be signed. This usually relates to authentication/signing issues with AWS credentials.
  • This error happens when IAM policies are used to control workgroup access at Amazon Athena side, if removing  workgroup access policy, the connection is successful.
Ratkaisu

In the connection dialog, add the workgroup in the server field, For example, athena.us-east-1.amazonaws.com:443;Workgroup=IT

Note: IT is workgroup name, and at Amazon Athena side IAM policies have been defined to let workgroup IT being able to access Athena data source.
