When a user attempts to self-register on an Experience Cloud site using the Self Register form, they receive the following error message:
“Your request cannot be processed at this time. The site administrator has been alerted.”
This happens even when the user has filled out all fields correctly. This can be caused if the Site Contact user is inactive or missing, Salesforce cannot complete the registration process and will display the generic error message to the end user.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
Go to Setup → User Interface → Sites and Domains → Sites.
Select the relevant site from the list.
Check the Site Contact field.
Ensure that the user listed as the Site Contact is an active user in Salesforce.
If the Site Contact is inactive, reactivate the user or assign an active user as the Site Contact.
Once the Site Contact is active, users should be able to complete self-registration without encountering this error.
