Deployment Issue – Compatibility Between Spring '25 and Summer '25 Releases

Publish Date: May 29, 2025
Description

Unable to deploy Omni Studio Components with the following deployment path, is a known limitation and is not a valid deployment path

  •  from Summer '25 to Spring '25 environments.
  •  from Spring ’25  to Summer '25 environments

The issue arises due to a mismatch between the Salesforce release versions in sandbox and production environments. Deploying metadata created or modified in a newer release (Summer '25) to an older release (Spring '25) or vicecersa is not a supported deployment path.

Why This Path Is Invalid:

  1. Forward Compatibility Limitations: Salesforce metadata is not guaranteed to be backward compatible. Metadata from Summer '25 may reference components or structures unavailable in Spring '25 or viceversa.
  2. Version-Specific Dependencies: OmniScripts, DataRaptors, Integration Procedures, and FlexCards often depend on version-specific managed package features.
  3. Deployment and Runtime Errors: Deploying across mismatched versions can lead to metadata validation failures, deployment errors, or runtime issues.

Resolution

Recommended Path Forward:

  • Ensure Environment Version Alignment: Develop and test in sandboxes running the same Salesforce release as the target environment.

  • Defer Deployment Until Version Sync: If your sandbox or production org is still on Spring '25, wait until it is upgraded to Summer '25 before deploying metadata created or modified in Summer '25  orgs.
