Troubleshooting Experience Cloud Site Publishing Errors

Udgivelsesdato: May 30, 2025
Beskrivelse

Why Publishing Errors Occur

When publishing an Experience Cloud site from Experience Builder, errors can occur for various reasons, including oversized CSS, invalid Head Markup, custom component bugs, corrupt page sections, audience assignment issues, or navigation menu configuration problems. Work through the troubleshooting steps below one at a time until publishing succeeds. If the problem persists after all steps, contact Salesforce Technical Support.

Step 1: Remove Custom CSS

Go to Builder > Themes > ▼ > Edit CSS and remove the CSS. If the CSS content or total character length is too large, a publishing error may occur. After removing the CSS, attempt to publish the site again.

Step 2: Remove Head Markup

Go to Builder > Settings > Advanced > Edit Head Markup and remove the markup. Invalid or oversized Head Markup content may be causing the error. After removing the markup, attempt to publish again.

Step 3: Remove Custom Components

Remove custom components from the site. The implementation of a custom component may be affecting the site's publishing process. Try removing custom components one at a time to identify the problematic component.

Step 4: Remove and Re-add Page Sections

Remove the affected section on the page and re-add it. Replacing the section may resolve the publishing error.

Step 5: Remove Audience Assignments

Remove all audience assignments from the page and its components. As documented in Known Issues, user audience assignments may be causing the publishing error. After removing all assignments, try publishing the site again.

Step 6: Review Navigation Menu Items

Review the number and character count of navigation menu items. Publishing errors can occur if too many navigation menu items are created for a single site. Also review the total character length of all navigation menu item titles, as an excessive total may cause errors.

Step 7: Update Navigation Menus in Sandbox

If the problem occurs only in a Sandbox environment, try updating each navigation menu individually. Inconsistencies can rarely occur when creating a Sandbox. Open each navigation menu via Edit and save it via Save Menu without making other changes. Attempt to publish after each save to isolate the problematic menu.

If none of the above steps resolve the publishing error, contact Salesforce Technical Support with the specific error message and the steps you have already attempted.
