Data 360 Sandbox Credit Merge

What’s Changing

On June 17, 2025, we’re making several changes to streamline how you set up, are charged for, and pay for service usage on Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) sandbox orgs.

  1. You’ll no longer need to purchase Data 360 Sandbox credits to set up a Data 360 sandbox. We’re discontinuing Data 360 Sandbox credits. Starting June 17, you can enable Data 360 on any sandbox org, provided the production org has Data 360.

  2. Credits you purchased for Data 360 sandbox will be merged with your Data 360 production credits. Between June 23 and June 24, we’ll add 1 new credit to your Data 360 production consumption cards for every credit on your Data 360 sandbox consumption cards. For example, suppose you had 10,000 production Data Services credits and 1,000 sandbox Data Services credits on June 17. On June 24, you’ll have 11,000 production Data Services credits. Your sandbox consumption cards will be retired.

  3. Between June 17, 2025 and June 24, 2025, sandbox usage data in Digital Wallet may be delayed. On June 17, Sandbox usage will start to reroute to the production cards. By June 24th, your sandbox usage will be accurately represented in the production cards. For more information on the credit changeover timeline, see Sandbox Credit Merge Timeline below.

  4. We’re lowering rate multipliers for usage on sandbox orgs by 20%. Starting on June 17, production and sandbox orgs will decrement from the same consumption card, but services on sandbox orgs will use 20% fewer credits than production orgs. This ensures that changes in how we license and charge for usage for sandbox orgs won’t cost you more. For example, suppose a service decrements 100 credits when used on a production org. That same service now decrements only 80 credits when used on a sandbox org. You can find a complete list of current multipliers and rates for production and sandbox usage on the Data 360 Multipliers rate cards.

  5. We’re suspending invoicing for Data 360 overages until Sept 3rd. During the migration period, Salesforce will suspend invoicing for Data 360 overages across consumption credits, but customers are still responsible for monitoring their entitlement. You should have near-real-time insight via Digital Wallet into your account's standing. After the 1-week migration period, your usage will be accurately represented in Digital Wallet and you can contact your AE if more capacity is needed. Overage invoicing is planned to resume on September 3rd for all accrued overages to date on Data 360 consumption credits.

  6. If your org is on a Sandbox Beta version, your beta is being extended until June 17. After June 17, your Data 360 sandbox betas will become regular Data 360 sandboxes. Credits will be billed the same as all other Data 360 sandboxes.

Sandbox Credit Merge Timeline

Merging your Data 360 sandbox credits and usage with production credits and usage occurs over a period of 5 days. During this period, you might see differences in amounts on your Digital Wallet consumption cards due to the changes we’re making. This is an expected part of the alignment process and your full credit balance and usage will be accurately reflected once the merge is complete.

June 17

  • All new usage in your Data 360 sandbox from this point forward is decremented directly from production cards at the new Sandbox multiplier rates.
  • Some usage of your Data 360 sandbox in the day or two leading up to June 17 remains “in flight” and isn’t yet captured on any of your consumption cards.

June 17-June 22

  • Usage of your Data 360 sandbox that was “in flight” on June 17 will continue to be decremented from your Data 360 Sandbox consumption cards. The amount decremented is based on the pre-June 17 multipliers.

June 23-June 24

  • “In flight” usage is summed and decremented from your Sandbox credits.
  • The number of credits purchased on your active Sandbox cards is added to your Production cards. For example, if you purchased 10,0000 credits on your active Sandbox card, 10,000 credits are added to the matching production card.
  • The number of credits used on your active Sandbox cards is decremented from your Production cards. For example, if your Sandbox org used 1,000 credits before June 17, then 1,000 credits are decremented from your matching Production card.
  • Your Data 360 sandbox consumption cards are marked “Retired”. No further changes will be made to these cards.

After June 24, 2025, all usage generated on Data 360 sandbox orgs is reflected on the production consumption cards in Digital Wallet.

Storage Billing Merge Considerations

In coordination with this change, we are fixing a bug that undercounted data storage in Data 360 sandbox orgs. Previously, the amount of Data 360 sandbox storage used for consumption was equal to the amount of storage used by your largest Data 360 sandbox.

Starting on June 17, we’ll sum all storage across your production org and all sandbox orgs to determine the amount of storage evaluated for the Data Storage consumption card. As a result, you may see an increase in usage for data storage starting on June 17.

For more information, see Data 360 Data Storage Counting Bug Fix.

Recommended Actions for Admins

  • Review and revise any Consumption Threshold Alerts for your org to account for changes to your Data 360 production consumption cards.

  • If you’re planning changes to your org during which you’ll want to closely monitor your credit consumption, consider holding off until June 24 or later.

How to Turn on Data 360 in a Sandbox

Starting June 17, 2025, when you create a Sandbox from an org that has a Data 360 license, Data 360 will automatically be available on your Sandbox. To turn it on, to go Data 360 Setup in your Sandbox org and click Get Started.
