How to update a custom address field with Data Loader

When updating the "Country/Territory" or "State/Province" of a custom address field with Data Loader, you must specify the "Country/Territory Code" and "State Code," respectively.

For example, the input CSV for updating records with Data Loader requires the following format:

(CustomAddressFieldAPIName)__CountryCode__s, (CustomAddressFieldAPIName)__StateCode__s "JP", "13"

Note: JP is the code for Japan, and 13 is the code for Tokyo. 
Note: CountryCode__s is the custom address (Country/Territory), and StateCode__s is the State/Province (State Code).

Next, we will explain how to look up the "Country/Territory Codes" and "State Codes" to set in your input CSV.

How to Find Country/Territory and State Codes

  1. Click the [Gear Icon] in the upper-right corner | [Setup].

  2. In the "Quick Find" box, click [State and Country/Territory Picklists].

  3. Click [Configure States, Countries, and Territories].

  4. Here you can see the "Country/Territory Code" for each country.

    • For example, the code for Japan is "JP".

  5. Click [Edit] for the country whose state codes you want to find.

  6. Here you can see the "State Code" for each state/prefecture.

    • For example, the code for Tokyo is "13".
