Salesforce New SMS Opt-Out Keywords (REVOKE / OPT OUT) Not Automatically Enforced on Standard SMS Channels

As of updated A2P 10DLC messaging compliance regulations, SMS ecosystems now require support for additional opt-out keywords: REVOKE and OPT OUT. Standard SMS channels do not automatically enforce these keywords, which may result in regulatory non-compliance, message deliverability issues, and a negative customer experience. Enhanced SMS channels handle this automatically

Customers using Standard SMS must proactively configure these opt-out keywords to ensure compliance. Failure to do so may result in non-compliance with ecosystem regulations, potentially affecting message deliverability and customer experience.

Lösning

To address this change, you have two options:

Option 1: Upgrade to Enhanced SMS (Recommended)

Enhanced SMS channels automatically enforce all required opt-out keywords, including REVOKE and OPT OUT. Upgrading ensures full compliance with minimal effort.  See the Salesforce Help on Upgrading from Standard to Enhanced Messaging for more information.

Option 2: Manually Configure Keywords in Standard SMS

If continuing with Standard SMS:

  1. Go to Setup
  2. Find and select Messaging Settings
  3. Select the Standard Channel you want to configure
  4. Click Edit on the far right of the corresponding channel
  5. In the Edit Channel popup:
    1. Scroll to the Opt-Out Keywords section
    2. Add the required keywords
    3. Save your changes
