Quip Third Party Live App Retirement

Julkaisupäivä: Sep 9, 2025
Kuvaus

What’s happening?

Quip has retired the following low-usage live apps in Quip:

Why are we doing this?

We are constantly evaluating all areas of the product to ensure we’re focusing resources on the capabilities that deliver the most value to customers, and unfortunately the usage of these apps has been very low. We understand that this may have a negative impact on the users who rely on them, but we made this tough decision to ensure that the overall Quip product continues to be reliable, stable, and performant for all of our customers.

What does this mean for Quip Users?

  • June 24–July 15, 2025: Users adding these apps will see an in-product message warning of the upcoming retirement.
  • Post July 15, 2025: Attempts to insert these apps will be blocked. Existing instances will continue to render.

What actions should Quip Users take?

Quip Users should review their documents in the event the live apps mentioned above are being used. If there are specific documents containing these live apps and need to have the current state of the app preserved, they can export the documents as a PDF.
Note that the PDF version will not refresh the data from external sources and will be a static screenshot.

How can I export this data?

The following options outline how to export content from Quip;

  1. Use the ”Export” command in the Document and Spreadsheet menus.
  2. Cut and paste the spreadsheet or document from Quip into another application.
  3. Print content using the “Print” command in the Document and Spreadsheet menus.
  4. Export the content using the Quip Automation API with a personal access token.
