Accessibility: Company Logo on the Salesforce Platform is Decorative and Hidden from Screen Readers

Date de publication: Jun 20, 2025
Description

Previously, the company logo in the Lightning App header was exposed to assistive technologies through the attribute ‘slds-assistive-text’. To improve accessibility compliance, it is now treated as a non-informative decorative image via CSS, meaning screen readers will no longer announce it.

This change is based on the understanding that:

  • The logo is not interactive (i.e., not clickable or linked).

  • The logo does not convey functional or navigational content.

  • The application is internal-facing, so the company identity is implied and well understood by users.

Résolution

If your organization believes the logo conveys informative value or brand identity that should be communicated to all users, including those using screen readers, we recommend the following alternatives:

  • App Name Customization: Descriptively name your app in App Manager to reflect your organization's identity.

  • App Page Branding: Use Lightning App Builder to add a branded banner or message on the Home page or any high-visibility component.

  • Login Page Customization: Configure a custom login page to display the company name and branding in a meaningful, accessible way.

These approaches ensure brand or informative elements are communicated accessibly, without relying on decorative images.
