Conversation is not displayed on the Messaging Session Lightning Record Page for Enhanced Messaging channels using Salesforce

The Salesforce Messaging Session record uses a different conversation component depending on the Messaging Channel Type.

  • If the Messaging Channel Type is "Enhanced": Enhanced Conversation component
  • If the Messaging Channel Type is "Standard": Conversation component

The default Lightning record page for the Messaging Session only has the standard Conversation component placed on it.

If you have not created a Lightning Record Page for Messaging Session, or if you cloned it from the default page, you may not be able to see the conversation. Follow these steps to add the Enhanced Conversation component to a new Lightning Record Page.

  1. Click the gear Icon in the upper right corner and select Setup.

  2. In the Quick Find box, enter "Lightning" and select Lightning App Builder.

  3. Click New.

  4. Select Record Page, then click Next.

  5. Enter any string for the label.

  6. For the Object, select Messaging Session, then click Next.

  7. Click CLONE SALESFORCE DEFAULT PAGE, then click Finish.

  8. In the search box in the left pane, enter "Conversation".

  9. Drag the Enhanced Conversation component and drop it onto the Conversation tab.

  10. Delete the Standard Conversation component from the Lightning Record Page.

  11. Click Save in the upper right corner.

Note: To enable Lightning Experience and mobile users to use the customized record page, the page must be activated. When you save the page for the first time, you can activate it from the Save dialog. After that, you can use the Activation button.
