Salesforce Authenticator Push Notifications or Backups Cannot Be Enabled

Publiseringsdato: Aug 25, 2025
Beskrivelse

Troubleshoot issues where push notifications or the "Back Up Accounts" toggle cannot be enabled in Salesforce Authenticator. This typically occurs when the app is registered as a TOTP.

• Tapping "Change in Settings" in the "Push Notifications" section does not respond.
• Tapping the "Back Up Accounts" toggle in the "Backup and Restore" section does not turn it on.
• The message "Your connected accounts don't support push notifications" is displayed in the "Push Notifications [i]" section.
• The notification settings for Salesforce Authenticator do not appear in the mobile device settings.

Løsning

Push notifications are not available if Salesforce Authenticator is registered as a time-based one-time password (TOTP) authentication app. Additionally, the Backup and Restore feature requires at least one Salesforce account to be registered specifically as a Salesforce Authenticator account.

If the account is registered as a TOTP app, the push notification and backup features will remain unavailable until it is re-registered correctly.

Follow these steps to disconnect the TOTP registration and re-register as a Salesforce Authenticator account:

How to verify the registration type in your Salesforce organization:
For Administrators:

Go to [Setup] | [Users].

Open the user's detail page.

Check if [Disconnect] is displayed next to [App Registration: Salesforce Authenticator].

For Users:

Go to [Personal Settings] | [Advanced User Details].

Check if [Disconnect] is displayed next to [App Registration: Salesforce Authenticator].
