Resolve Lead Custom Field Mapping Errors

Publiceringsdatum: Apr 30, 2026
Beskrivning

When configuring Lead field mappings in Salesforce, you may encounter the error:

“We can't save your field mappings. For help, contact Salesforce Customer Support.”

This typically occurs due to inconsistencies between source (Lead) and target fields (Account, Contact, or Opportunity), such as mismatched data types, field lengths, or decimal settings.

Lösning

Lead field mappings require strict alignment between source and target fields. Any mismatch can prevent mappings from being saved.

Common Causes and Solutions

1. Data Type Mismatch

  • Cause: Mapping fields with different data types (for example, Text → Number)
  • Solution: Ensure both fields use the same data type

2. Field Length Mismatch

  • Cause: Source field length exceeds the target field length
  • Solution: Increase the target field length to match or exceed the source

3. Decimal Place Mismatch

  • Cause: Numeric fields (Number, Currency, Percent) have different decimal places
  • Solution: Ensure both fields have the same number of decimal places

4. Pre-existing Invalid Mappings

  • Cause: Existing mappings that do not meet current requirements
  • Solution: Review and correct all existing mappings, not just new ones

Steps to Resolve the Issue

  1. Go to Setup
  2. Navigate to Lead → Fields & Relationships
  3. Click Map Lead Fields
  4. Review all mappings:
    • Verify data types
    • Check field lengths
    • Align decimal places
  5. Update any mismatched fields
  6. Save the mappings
